Welcome to Squirrels

We are a class of Year 1 and Year 2 children. Squirrels has two class teachers. Miss Ray teaches Monday - Wednesday and Mrs Wiseman teaches Thursday and Friday with Mrs Ball supporting as our teaching assistant. 

We enjoy lots of different subjects in Squirrels and do so through lots of discussion, asking and answering questions, looking at pictures and videos, listening to stories and non-fiction texts and also lots of practical exploration. Our P.E lessons will be on a Thursday and Friday.

Here is a little bit of information about learning that can be done at home.

Books

Children will receive a new library book each Monday. Year 1 children will receive a Little Wandle Phonics book each Thursday. 

Year 2 children will receive an Accelerated Reader book and quiz in school when completed, or a Little Wandle Phonics book each Thursday. 

Spellings

Year 2 children will be tested on their spellings every Thursday and new words will be given out every Friday. Year 1 children will begin spellings after October half term. 

Homework 

Year 2 children will receive a choice of eight homework tasks to pick from across a half term. They will link to all of our learning in class and should be handed in each Monday.
