Art & Design

As a school, we believe that Art is a vital and integral part of children’s education.

We provide enjoyable opportunities for all children to develop a range of ways in which they can share and express their individual creativity, whilst learning about and making links with a wide spectrum of different types of art in our society.

As artists, the children at Twyning School learn to become proficient in a range of artistic skills including: drawing, painting, mixed media, crafts and textiles, sculpture, design and photography.

They improve their understanding and knowledge of Art, taking inspiration from key artists from around the world and from different times, before looking into their approaches, skills and techniques. 

We encourage and nurture the childrens' creativity and resillience in Art through a range of exercises, activities and projects that allow individual expression and original ideas to be created, using the art skills and techniques that have been taught.

Our children are given opportunities to assess the strength in their own pieces and the work of others, and given a chance to think about how they could improve in the future. We aim to give our children the space to grow creatively throughout their time at Twyning and as they go onto the the next stage of their learning journeys.
