Information about the Governing Board & Governor Details

Who are Governors and what do they do?

Governors are volunteers who work in partnership with schools to ensure that children receive the best education possible.

Every state school in the UK has a Governing Board to provide strategic management and to act as a "critical friend“ to the school, supporting the work of the headteacher and other staff. Together with the head teacher they set the future direction of the school and decide how the school’s budget should be spent.  Governing boards make decisions collectively on matters such as school policies and the school’s development plan.

Governors do not run the school - the headteacher and leadership team are responsible for day-to-day management of the school.

Governors are usually appointed or elected for a period of four years, so there will be vacancies for Parent Governors arising from time to time. If you are interested in becoming a Governor when an opportunity occurs, please let either Mrs Bowen or the Chair of Governors know.

The structure of the school's Governing Board is outlined above.

It’s Good to talk

We realise that there may be things that you would like to raise with the school from time to time, but may be unsure of the best way to approach us, or feel you don’t want to bother us. If you have a question, or simply want to bring something to our attention, then please do so, no matter how small or insignificant you feel this might be. If it is a concern to you, then it may also be a concern to other parents / carers and we can only address this if you share it with us.

You can ask the school administrator, Mrs Bowen, for an informal appointment to see either your child’s class teacher or Miss Gladstone. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can talk to one of the school Governors.

Governing Board

Schools now publish Governors attendance at Full and Committee meetings, their term length as a Governor and declaration of any other business interest. Please find this information above.
